WASHINGTON, November 8, 2023 — Glen Echo Group announced today that Rachel Wolbers, previously Head of Global Engagement at Meta’s Oversight Board, is joining the team as a vice president at this critical time for tech policy worldwide. Wolbers recently completed a Fulbright award in New Zealand, where she wrote on how multistakeholder engagement models can successfully enable governments, industry and civil society to work together to improve content moderation practices and help address terrorist and extremist content online.

Prior to her role at The Oversight Board, Wolbers was an internet and international telecommunications policy specialist at the US Department of Commerce and on Capitol Hill for a Member of Congress on the House Judiciary Committee. Wolbers was the former policy director at Engine Advocacy, a non-profit technology policy, research and advocacy organization that bridges the gap between policymakers and startups.

"Having worked with the Glen Echo Group for a decade -- joining this team is like coming home. I am very excited to be part of an organization that thinks creatively to deliver top quality support on communications and public policy strategy for their clients. With the rapid advances in technology, it is more critical than ever for innovators to proactively engage with global stakeholders from civil society, academia, policymakers, media and everyday consumers to develop tools and policies that make the world a better place. At the Glen Echo Group, I can't wait to work closely with our clients to address some of the trickiest problems facing the technology industry through stakeholder engagement and education," said Wolbers.

“Glen Echo Group has been privileged to work with Rachel throughout her impressive career, which gives us particular pride and delight to welcome her as an official member of our team,” said Maura Corbett, the firm’s founder and CEO. “We often say that this is a deeply consequential time for the future of our digital world, and with Rachel, Glen Echo Group gains an expert navigator to help guide our clients and partners through this next chapter of the technology revolution. We are so excited to learn from Rachel and her experience in technology policy both at home and abroad.”

Gearing up for 2024 means having an apt understanding of the biggest potentials and problems that technology policy regulators face, from deepfake technology to responsible content moderation. With Wolbers joining the team, Glen Echo Group has a seasoned professional with a unique global perspective on their side.
